“Arise and Stand in the Gap for Our Nation”
Theme Scripture: “When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.” — Isaiah 59:19b
1. Background
There has been a build up of occurrences all pointing to the spirit of death and blood shed over our nation that can not be ignored. Below are a few outlined:
- On the 2nd April, 2026, Mr. Okello Onyum murdered four toddlers in cold blood from a Kindergarten/ Day Care Centre in Ggaba- Kampala.
- On the 3rd June 2026, Makindye Senior Secondary School, staged a drama/ prom, which depicted a lot of satanic symbolism, including staging a death by one of the students.
- On the 5th June 2026, Sydney Gongodyo, a young rugby player was lynched under mysterious circumstances.
- Scattered deaths connected to Schools followed, including those arising from suicides and from malaria.
The above concurrences could have been administratively and legally handled, but we perceive there is a spiritual aspect to it that must be dealt with.
Most recently, Uganda has witnessed a disturbing escalation in road traffic accidents, resulting in the tragic loss of many lives. Of particular concern are the recent accidents involving school children on educational field trips, leaving families, schools, and communities in deep sorrow. There were five major ones over the past ten days.
During a Board Retreat of Intercessors for Uganda (IFU) held on 11th July 2026, one of the Board members got and shared a vision. In the vision he saw sword like traps planted by the enemy all over our roads to cause destruction; accidents and bloodshed. Then he saw a strong white giant, who overpowered a restraining evil being, and went ahead to begin systematically removing the traps of the enemy. Later, a spray of light came from in front and cleared all the traps and the roads became safe. The Lord then gave an interpretation saying the giant is Intercessors for Uganda (IFU), that we need to rise and pray, and deal with the evil plantings on our roads all over the nation.
As Intercessors For Uganda (IFU), our key calling is to be watchmen over the land (Ezekiel 22:30), as well as to be a prophetic voice to the nation, With the above background, we are rising up in prayer, and at the same time calling upon the Body of Christ to take a redemptive prayer action.
2. The call:
We are calling upon all intercessors, and all believers across Uganda to a united time of prayer with fasting, to seek God’s mercy, protection, and preservation over the nation’s transport routes with repentance, and prophetic prayer actions. We believe that this is a defining moment for the Church to unite in prayer and declare God’s protection over Uganda.
Let us all arise:
Leaders and members of IFU, the Houses of Prayer, Church leaders and congregations, Prayer ministries and networks, Youth and student prayer movements, the Children, Christian families and indeed every believer burdened for Uganda.
3. Key Objectives of the call:
- To bring intercessors and the Body of Christ from every region into one prayer assignment.
- To call the Church into national repentance concerning the shedding of innocent blood.
- To repent over the high level of witchcraft and idolatry in the land.
- To deal with the negative covenants and altars speaking death over the land.
- To uproot the plantings of the enemy from our roads.
- To dedicate Uganda’s highways and roads to the Lord through prayer.
- To seek God’s mercy and divine protection over all road users.
- To stand in the gap against the spirit of death, destruction, and bloodshed.
- To pray for the protection and preservation of the young generation of Uganda.
- To pray for comfort and the holistic healing of those affected by the recent perilous occurrences.
4. Prayer Response/ Strategies:
- We shall go into a ten day’s time of prayer effective Tuesday 21st, up to 30th July 2026.
- The fast will be with one major meal in a day for the first 7 days, from 21st up to 27th July and meet regularly to pray at our different altars as families, fellowships and churches etc
- The last 3 days 28th–30th July 2026, we shall have an absolute fast, with water /fluids. Intercessors throughout Uganda are called to dedicate these three days to repentance, worship, and fervent prayer for God’s mercy and protection over the nation. Continue to do this at your different altars.
- Prayer on the roads: Each of us is called upon to pray over every road as you travel over this period. Make declarations and carry out prophetic actions.
- We shall organize a special drive to reverse the evil that was invoked- 28th July by an organized team.
- Prayer at strategic locations/ black spots – 29th July 2026
- Regional prayer teams and teams from different communities will gather at strategic highways, roads, and accident-prone locations to proclaim God’s protection, dedicate the roads, railways and waterways to the Lord, and declare life over all who travel.
- Heavenly Court Prayer Session- 30th July 2026 Time: 3:00 PM
- A dedicated leadership team will bring the issues before God, presenting petitions for mercy, justice, healing, and protection over Uganda’s peoples, the roads and all who use them.
5. Key Scriptures
- Ezekiel 22:30 – God seeks those who will stand in the gap.
- 2 Chronicles 7:14 – The promise of healing the land through repentance.
- John 10:10 – Christ came to give life abundantly.
- Isaiah 59:19 – The Lord raises a standard against the enemy.
- Isaiah 54:17 – No weapon formed against God’s people shall prosper.
- Psalm 91 – God’s promise of divine protection.
Conclusion
This is not merely another prayer event—it is a prophetic national response to a matter affecting every family in Uganda. As watchmen, we cannot remain silent while innocent lives continue to be lost. Now is the time to arise, unite, and stand in the gap for our nation.
